This freaks me out on several levels. The first time for what, exactly. And this is an experience that you're trying--and failing--to repeat?
ReplyDeleteSide note: seems like blogger has made the word verification even tougher to decipher. I'm going to reach a point where the Word Verification is going to screen me out because I'm just too blind or unhip to decipher it.
I took it as trying to recapture the enchantment of the first "game of D&D" you ever played in.
ReplyDeletemost of us older gamers are reaching that age when we start waxing nostalgic about sitting in the den eating pizza and listening to Rush as we entered the temple of elemental evil for the first time. simpler times. Look at all the Back to basics and "old school" systems that are popping up all over the gamer boards. I saw the same thing with GI Joes a few years back. you hit forty something and you cant afford the Mustang GT, the 20 year old girlfriend, or the hair implants. but a couple of 1st edition AD&D books? very affordable in contrast.
I should probably be recognizing that image from one of the old books and it looks familiar, but I'm not placing it.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to be kind of funny, riffing on that scary-looking guy's big wide-open mouth with the accompanying stranger-danger type joke, but I guess I didn't pull it off successfully.

ReplyDeletewell I recognized the oral overtones right-off. but I was trying to get to a happier place. LOL!
Errol Otis is (was?) a genius!
