Flash back Friday - The Travelling Guy visits Hawaii

My journey into Cyber space began almost ten years ago. One of the first groups I hooked up with online were a bunch of guys from a list called Action Heroes. The AH guys were into action figures, specifically the 12" GI Joe action figures. Through the group I was able to re-connect with my childhood love of GI Joe and other nostalgia. One of the projects we had was the "Traveling guy". One of the guys in the group volunteered a figure to make it's rounds with each member of the group. "TG" as he was known travelled from Washington state across the country and even to Europe and Australia. I happened to be living in Hawaii then so when TG made it to the islands I was responsible for showing him a good time. After his inspection of my GI Joe team,I took him to Waikiki, the Arizona Memorial, and of course to a luau beach party on the North shore. I even hooked him up with a local gal. Good times.

I don’t really play D20 games but some D20 stuff is just too original to pass up. SOLID turned out to be a fun read and provided inspiration and fodder for several ideas I’ll be stealing in the near future. And the price is right at $5.99

50,000 hits!

We reached 50,000+ hits! Not too shabby for an off the cuff effort. As Blogs go I’m not exactly shaking the pillars of heaven. No deep morale or political rants, no great insight on my life or the workings of my psyche, no long diatribes on roleplaying theory. The Lair of The Evil DM was created as a place for me to post some photos of my action figure kit bashes, write about the games I’m working on, and gather together a lot of the crazy stuff I see on the net every day.

Occasionally I post opinions and reactions to trends in the hobbies that I find interesting but mostly it’s become a place to hang out for a few minutes, check out some links, have a chuckle, and catch some eye candy. I’m okay with that and from the looks of things, folks out there like the formula as well.

Someone once remarked that my Blog is “like a Maxim magazine for gamers”, I liked that description so much I use it as the Mission Statement here. Thanks for stopping by, leaving comments and hanging out with me for awhile.

Now if they can just get a DVD set released for "Tales of the Gold Monkey" and the "Conan the Adventurer" cartoon series, I’d be a happy geek!.




Solomon Kane
The Solomon Kane movie is moving along nicely. James Purefoy is aboard to play the grim Puritan. I enjoyed the hell out of Purfoy’s portrayal of Mark Anthony in the awesome HBO series Rome, so I have only happy thoughts for this film. *fingers crossed*




"Night Calls the Green Falcon"
Robert McCammon is a wonderful writer of horror and suspense. He has stories about aliens that terrorize a small town in West Texas and an OSS agent who just happens to be a Werewolf. One of my favorite stories from Mr. McCammon is a short story of a former serial movie star who has on last adventure hunting a killer in modern day Hollywood. It’s a great story and it’s on the web for free. Invest a few minutes and read about the final adventure of the Green Falcon – you wont regret it!






Crimefighters RPG
Call of Cthulhu is generally regarded as the Granddaddy of the pulp RPG genre. There is no doubt that it is a classic. But did you know that in 1981 in a gaming magazine called The Dragon, a young game designer by the name of Dave Cook came up with the first “Two–fisted” Pulp RPG? Before Spirit of the Century, before Hollow Earth expeditions, before Justice Inc, and Daredevils, there was – Crimefighters! Check it out and let me know what you think.
