Boo to not being able to see Hulu outside the US!
ReplyDeleteHeartily seconded! This is a sadly underrated swords-and-sandals adventure flick with a great cast, neat characters, and some fun set-piece battles. The Rock has a wonderfully expressive face and he can convey more with one eyebrow than many Hollywood actors can manage with their entire bodies. Bernard Hill does his comedy thing, and is probably underused, but you'd be hard pressed to recognize the same man who played Theoden. Kelly Hu is given lots of barely-there outfits to look scrumptious in. The look is damn near Frazetta at a few points.
ReplyDeleteGood to see a couple of folks who like this movie as well. It's no Conan the Barbarian, but fits right in with Beastmaster and other somewhat tongue-in-cheek fantasy flicks that don't take themselves too seriously, but at the same time provide a hearty helping of pizza-and-beer entertainment - the fantasy flick equivalent of some fun and furious D&D-style dungeon crawling.
