Two years ago was in a serious car accident. Two weeks ago I was involved in another accident. In both instances I was at a stop sign and struck by a moving vehicle.
Now I'm getting jokes like "you must be like an idiot magnet" or "Wow man, you should stay off the road". Well my answer to that is BULLSHIT-people need to pay attention on the road. I just thank God that in both cases I was alone in the car. People need to take driving seriously, stop drinking and driving, stop texting and driving. And stay off the fucking phone while you are driving!

ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100% on the general state of awful driving - my country is as afflicted as yours! People treat it like a video game that you can play while doing a hundred other things...

A girlfriend of mine sent me the link to this in an email. I was amazed at how realistic it was done. I think the part that got to me the most was where they're doing a chest rub on an infant that's not responding and the toddler in the backseat asking the paramedic why mommy and daddy won't wake up. Intense stuff. They need to show this to anybody with a damn cell phone. Sadly, it's not just teenagers who do it, but I've seen adults that do it as well. I'm with you, get off the fucking phone and just drive!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first moved out to Reno years ago, I really enjoyed crossing the street and being acknowledged by drivers. Back in California, I use to hate crossing the street. It felt like few drivers had any sense of pedestrian right-of-ways, and when a diver do let people cross, they give them flack for not going fast enough (as if letting them cross is a privilege or something)! Then more Californians moved out to Reno, and it quickly turned into Deathrace 2000! Reno/Sparks PD have been really cracking down on crazy drivers, after children have been getting killed by drivers going too fast when schools let out, and just ignoring pedestrian right-of-ways! Most of the pedestrian fatalities was do to the locals being so use to dealing with courteous divers.
ReplyDeleteNot too long ago, I nearly got into a fight in front of a Walmart when some punk old-fart nearly ran me and my family over as we where crossing the driveway to the front of the store. As we crossed, he was inching closer to make us cross faster. As soon as his way was cleared, he zoomed ahead, cussing at us for being in his way! I SO wanted to punch-out that dame bastard!
I have been seeing road-side memorials since I was a kid, and I'm still sick of it! Dame those drunk-divers (I had an uncle who was chased-down and ran-over by one)! Dame those texters (if you got a passenger, relay things through them)! And dame those lead-foot divers who have no time to watch out for pedestrians or think they have the right-of-way! DAME THEM ALL TO HELL!!! >:(
