Today's Goodwill finds!
I'm back from the land of yesteryear with another collection of stuff we all grew up with and then somehow lost.
You ever wonder what happened to that model your dad bought you, but you never got around to building? Or the castle set that Grandpa got for you when he found out you played that Dungeons and Dragons game? Well I found them at the Goodwill today...

You have Got to be kidding me!
Didn't Mongoose just release this a while back? And didn't they strecth the release out into multiple CORE rulebooks at around $30.00 a pop?
According to their website the this new edition is :
"streamlined and revised"
"significant changes"
"Combat - perhaps the most controversial aspect of the first edition of the game - has been almost completely retooled."
"Magic, too, has undergone radical redefinition."
So basically if you bought the first books they're now worthless.
Of course, Mongoose Publishing was the same company that had to come out with a whole new edition of the Conan game named the "Atlantean Edition" because their previous edition was so flawed. In fact they just lost the license a few weeks ago. Gee I wonder why??

Manly Monday - South of the border, down Mexico way
I spent today writing. In the background I have three of my favorite westerns playing.
I love westerns set in Mexico. Once Simon is done with Guns of Laredo" I'm coming out with a source-book dealing with western characters adventuring outside of traditional settings. I'm calling it "Beyond Laredo".

THIS TV
I stumbled across this cool cable network the other day. It's called THIS TV . It's a free movie channel that specializes in MGM and UA movies mostly from a pre-1986 catalog. From what I've seen there are quite a few low budget B-movie efforts and "grindhouse" as well as legitimate classics. There are also quite a few of the lesser-known movies from names like Robert Mitchum, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Burt Lancaster and more.
They also have a nice collection of movies that just don't appear that much anymore like Cannon for Cordoba, Vigilante Force or Dillinger.
The movies are edited for length, nudity, and language -but with the older movies that not so much an issue. For me it's trove of spaghetti westerns, war movies, and low budget Sc Fi- with a few actual classics thrown in there- and the commercials allow me to grab a sandwich or work on a blog post. Here are a few of the movies playing this month...

Testosterone check part II Coming soon to a game table near you - Dogs of W.A.R
In a few weeks Beyond Belief Games, The home of Barbarians of Lemuria (BoL) and other role playing games will be coming out with a modern game set in the world of the Men's Adventure Paperback's of the 70's and 80's. Dogs of W.A.R will utilize a modified version of the BoL rules system. I've had look at the most recent play test draft and I'm happy to say it looks like Simon and BBG have another hit on their hands.
Able Team, Phoenix Force, The Executioner and The Destroyer- these and many more can come to life as your players kick ass and take names.
While the rules are currently "Top Secret-Eyes Only" I'm cleared to release some of the awesome interior art by Chris Schieffer.
