Have you guys heard of Epic Table??

In my never ending quest to find a way to game online that I can handle both mentally and economically, I present Epic Table...

I found this a few weeks ago but because of the move I wasn't able to delve into it much. Now that things are settling in here I'm giving it a look and I'm really impressed with what I see so far.


I'm tinkering with it and created this:

"Our three intrepid adventurer's soon there is more than just an old plane wreckage in this deadly swamp."

If any of you out there are experienced with Epic Table drop me a line. I would love to test this out. I'm wondering how it works with G+Hangout??

Saga of the Star-God

I was posting in Rpgnet on a Sword & Sorcery thread and I put up this pic.

I loved this story arc. The bummer was that it only lasted two-issues, but it still inspires!

Just about settled in to the new Lair!

We are finally starting to get settled in the new Lair. Much more room for everyone and more importantly everyTHING!


I never realized I had so damn much stuff. We closed escrow on the 23rd and started moving that very evening. Our Christmas celebration was brief, just and hour or two and then back to the moving.  Just about everything online was put on hold as we settled in and got our internet up.  But now we are back and I've been in touch with several of the Dicey Tales crew and we will crank up the works again staring this week.


One of the cool things about moving is that you run across things that were lost or misplaced. 


I was overjoyed when I "found" my Grandfather's Army picture.  Not the U.S. Army - The Mexican Army circa 1938, Manuel Toledo was a trooper in the 9th Cavalry Regiment in San Luis Potosi. This photo is part of his squad picture (which I have in storage in Hawai'i). The weapon he's hefting what appears to be a Mark I variation of a Bren Gun.

My Granpo was so cool. He was a retired construction worker who supplemented his retirement income playing poker at the local card rooms (he wasn't a gambler, he was too good). He was a card carrying Democrat who framed his U.S. Citizenship document and displayed it proudly in the living room. Despite limited English skill he read the paper everyday and was always up on current events. And coolest of all to his 7 year old Grandson, he always had an endless supply of Conan, Thor, Horror and GI combat comics in stacks around the couch.

More on Ardion

First and foremost Ardion is being created for my personal enjoyment and that of my minions. I want it to have an "Old School" feel  and still take off on personal tangents free of rules or regulations. To be honest Old School means rules- alot of them. It may have to do with the founders of RPG's coming from the world of war gaming where each inch of movement is measured with a with a ruler and every sack of potatoes is given an encumbrance value. If you want to play the game the way Gary and the boys wrote it you are going to have lots of rules that you may not like or may not make sense to you- you can't play a Goblin ranger, Your priest cant use a sword, your magic-user cant wear armor.

I'm willing to go with a lot of the rules, I happen to like rules, unless they get in the way of how I want to do things.  Therefore on Ardion - Goblins can be PC's, Dwarves have started using Gunpowder, Orcs arent dumb brutes (they're smart brutes),  and there are flying ships (and the Halflings have them).

Thats all I have in my brain for now. the rest is a blank canvas to be filled as I get inspired or at my minions request (this campaign is for them after all). If they want to go to a jungle, I'll make a jungle, if they want to hunt mummies in a desert so be it.

Yesterday I posted the start of my campaign map. Several people commented on it and wanted to know a bit about the program. It's called Hexographer.  It's enjoyed a bit of popularity for its ease of use. I'm enjoying it and still finding out how to do things with it. I believe you can play around with it for free to find out if it bops yer bippy. they have an alternate tile pack but its a bit pricey for my cheapass.

In a perfect world the Hexographer guys and the Castles and Crusades guys would team up and create an ultimate online rpg software tool.

The lands of Ardion- A work in progress

The Castles & Crusades campaign that I have been running for the Minions is in full swing. With the help of Hexographer I've begun work on the campaign map. Pictured above is my progress so far.  I've decided to take a tip from "The Princess Bride" and give my nations currency names.


The boys are currently in the southern half of the kingdom of Sestertius, right outside of a small Halfling village known as NewBriar.  The nearest city to them is the port city of Barnacus "City in peril!"- old school dice slingers may remember the name from  Dragon #80.

Snow white and the Huntsman- I'll check it out.
