To many people books are just paper and ink, but to a book-lover they are much more. Here are a few things I've learned about lending books.


First off NEVER lend a book to a friend. 
If you really want them to read something you think they would enjoy, just buy them the damn book or give them your copy. Lending a book and not having it returned puts a real strain on a friendship. 


Treat books correctly, especially if it belongs to someone else.  I get a lot of my books at the local Goodwill stores, and I cringe when I see the way the clerks throw books into huge bins as they clear space for new titles. 


If a friend lends you a book, try to read at least one or two chapters, even if it doesn't interest you in the least, do it for your friendship. Then you can honestly return it and say you tried to get into it but it just wasn't working for you, your friend will most likely understand and will appreciate the fact that you at least made the effort. 


If you do lend a book to a friend don't get all "Butthurt" (as my son would say), if they don't like it. Not everyone can sit and giggle maniacally through the Flashman series. Anyway its their loss.

Today's guilty pleasure...Dancing Queen.

One of the Evil DM's Guilty pleasures is ABBA's  "Dancing Queen".  Every time I hear it I do a mind trip back to my preteen youth, and suddenly I'm in a skating rink. I wasn't as much an ABBA fan as I was an Agnetha fan.
Agnetha was my first celebrity crush.
What self respecting 11 year old boy wouldn't fall in love with this angelic face?

The other chick wasn't too bad either, but then I was only 11 and not  too  knowledgeable about the  possibilities, but come to think of it, they were Swedish...

Free paper miniatures!

It's been a while since I last posted about anything free. I found these paper miniatures the other day via the Barbarians of Lemuria message board. These are from an outfit called One Monk Miniatures. They look very cool, but to be honest I've been too busy to try them out. If any of you guys can come back with a short review I'm sure everyone would appreciate it. Until then, free is good and I for one appreciate the gesture.

I''m taking a couple of weeks off...

Hey guys,
I'll be taking a break from blogging and such, in order to finish up Hador and the BoL Pulp Expansion. I really can't get anything done between blogging and all the other internet crap that I do all day.  I'm not the most disciplined person at the best of times (though I do talk a good game to the Minions).
I've found I can easily piss away a morning with just RPGNet and my Google reader and get nothing of substance done.
Now, I love this blog and I'm appreciative of all the friends and contacts I have made because of it. I just need to really get these games out. Hador was supposed to be done last year. 
If this was my job I'd  have been fired and replaced by now.
So give me a few weeks and I'll be back. I hate to leave my 100+ followers but I gotta knock this stuff out. If you need a quick Evil DM fix of gratuitous girlie pics and geeky links just pick a random year and check out the archives, I'm sure you'll find something to bop your bippy.
